Christ at Thirty Three     Heinrich Hofman

Deuteronomy 6:5

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your might.

This is my favorite painting of Jesus Christ,  my Lord and Savior.  I remember it as a child and I still treasure it.  It has hung in the basement of Antelope Hills church since I was a little kid.  I don't know exactly why I like this representation so much, but the artist somehow has captured the ruggedness of Jesus in that he came to live as a man,  enduring all that any human can face including temptation,  even death and yet by the Spirit showed us how to live.  This picture also captures the compassion of Christ in his eyes and the tenderness that flows through him and his deeds as he loved fully with the Father's love.  And just faintly you can see the cross across the face of our Lord which reminds me that He died for our sins.  Quite a picture to look at and definitely one to think about.

Dear Friends,

I desire to serve and be used by God as teacher, pastor and counselor.  If I can be of service to you in any way, don't hesitate to contact me.  I am available at any time and I do care about each one of you.  If you are visiting our site and need a caring friend, someone to listen to your concerns or have other needs, please contact me.

This notebook will be somewhat different than my sermons and different than our newsletters.  I like to write and so it is here that you may find a fuller version of an illustration, a poem, a quote, a thought, a response to something, or even a story with some theological ponderings.  Check back from time to time and send me an email with your  thoughts.

In His service and yours,

The 116 that I often use is in reference to Romans 1:16.  I am not perfect, but Jesus Christ is!  I am not ashamed of Him and His power to save us.  As John Newton states, "Two things I remember.  I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior."  It is beyond my capacity to comprehend the redemptive love and power of our Savior but it fills me with joy when I thank Him for saving us.
